Chapter 10: light up your winter

There’s a new chapter waiting to start, and I’m not talking about my current book.

On Wednesday, I will be leaping out of unemployment, and into the arms of employment.  That’s right folks, my internship is about to begin, and it couldn’t have come any sooner!  I never thought I would say this, and probably will be stuffing a sock in my mouth after, but I am ready to work.

For some time, ever since school started, I felt my days lacking in creativity.  I needed more inspiration, more challenges, and definitely, definitely more motivation to do something else besides studying.  I’m lovin’ the Chinese language and all, but one’s brain can only handle so many characters a day.  What happened to the girl who used to make plans to reach those seemingly unreachable dreams?  What happened to her twelve-year old imagination?

Anthony Bourdain would be so upset if he knew.

The great thing about this world is that no matter where you are, something is bound to spark that creative kid inside you. Even though it’s easy to lose balance on things that used to inspire and get your wheels churning, it’s also easy to regain that balance back.

With a click of the mouse, millions of blogs are there to help lure you back on track.  A ride on the subway can ignite that champagne-feeling-love for the city again. Look around you today. Watch the buses pass by, put on those shades and creep on the couple holding hands at the coffee shop, and admire the ten inch snow stacked up in front of your yard. Find that spark again, and let that be your fireplace this winter.
